This Saturday March 30th, we got the opportunity to volunteer through United Way at a Migrant Head Start center run by CAPSLO in our very own Chualar! Shield Bearers organized with GHS Football and we showed up with our sleeves rolled up and ready to work at the Spring Spruce Up!
The center, Primavera Head Start, is in Chualar and opens the very next Monday (April 1st). United Way worked with CAPSLO to get materials and logistics figured out, and we showed up along with volunteers from other organizations including 1st Capital Bank and North Salinas High.
Our young Spartans helped upgrade/replace a sand box, build a very detailed play house (we want to move in), apply much needed paint touch ups to curbs, boards and storage containers, and many other things. There were so many different projects going on that we had to look back at the pictures to remember!
We hope the kids at Primavera Center have fun with their “Spruced Up” location, and we had a blast giving back to our community. Thanks to United Way of Monterey County for organizing the event and letting us be a part of it!
