Shield Bearer Members arranged for Gonzales High School Football members to pay a visit to Soledad State Prison through their “We Care” program (aka “scared straight”).

The football team is by no means troubled or deliquent, but Shield Bearer members thought that the trip could be a beneficial one for the young Spartans.

Thanks to Coach Berlanga for being open minded about it, and thanks to Soledad State Prison for allowing us to visit, and providing an experience that allowed our young Spartans to grow.

Valuable life lessons were learned that day by all who attended.  Based on the response we plan on doing it again as long as we are allowed to.
