All parents must sign a waiver and parent code of conduct when signing up their child. Just in case you lost your copy, the code that was signed upon reads as follows:
- I shall not criticize the officials
- I shall not “Grand Stand” the coaches
- I will set a good example of sportsmanship for the children
- I will encourage all kids on my team not just my own
- I will address any team or player problems quietly and only with the team coach
- I will make an effort to attend and be on time to all team events
- I will support and demand a sports environment that is free from drugs, tobacco and alcohol and will refrain from their use at all related events
- I will refrain from using abusive or profane language
- I will remember the officials and coaches are in control of the game and practices and I will follow their instructions
- I agree that I fail to abide by code of conduct, I will be subject to discipline up to a non refundable ejection from the league
While each violation will be treated on a case by case basis, the usual process will include:
- verbal warning from official / coach
- verbal warning from commissioner / league officials
- parent suspension for 1-3 weeks
- parent / player suspension for 1-3 weeks
- parent banned from attending team events
- player banned from participation
- Depending on the severity of the violation and cooperation shown by the offender, SBFFL officials and coaches may escalate to whichever step they feel is appropriate.
